A simple and satisfying outdoor treat featuring bananas stuffed with chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers, wrapped in foil and cooked over a campfire for a gooey, sweet dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1/4 cup (40g) chocolate chips or bars (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
  • 1/4 cup (30g) regular-sized marshmallows or mini marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons (15g) crushed graham crackers (or gluten-free crackers)
  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, pinch of sea salt, peanut butter, fresh or frozen berries, cinnamon or chili powder

Instructions

  1. Slice each banana lengthwise, leaving about 1/4 inch intact so the banana holds together like a boat.
  2. Open the banana gently and stuff the inner split with chocolate chips and marshmallows.
  3. Sprinkle crushed graham crackers and any optional toppings such as nuts or sea salt on top of the filling.
  4. Wrap each banana tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil, leaving a little air space inside.
  5. Place the foil-wrapped bananas on hot embers or beside flames using tongs. Cook for 7 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally to heat evenly.
  6. Carefully remove the packets from the fire and let cool for 1-2 minutes before unwrapping. Serve warm straight from the foil or banana peel.

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushiness. Double wrap foil if cooking directly in hot embers. Keep fire moderate to prevent burning. Let the banana boats cook long enough for gooey filling. Bring napkins to handle sticky mess. For indoor cooking, bake wrapped bananas at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes.
