A cozy and creamy banana bread latte with warm cinnamon and rich vanilla, perfect for a comforting coffee treat at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ripe banana (mashed; the riper, the sweeter and more flavorful)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole milk recommended, almond or oat milk work too)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (pure)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Mash the banana in a small bowl until mostly smooth, leaving some small chunks for texture. (2 minutes)
  2. Pour milk into a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add mashed banana, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and salt. Stir gently to combine. (5 minutes)
  3. Warm the mixture until hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. (3-5 minutes)
  4. Remove from heat and use an immersion blender or whisk vigorously to create a creamy, frothy texture. Alternatively, shake the mixture in a tightly sealed jar. (2 minutes)
  5. Brew 1/2 cup of strong coffee or espresso while warming the milk mixture. (3-5 minutes)
  6. Pour the hot banana milk mixture into a mug, then slowly add the coffee. Stir gently and adjust sweetness if needed. (1 minute)
  7. Optional: Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a café-style finish. (30 seconds)

Notes

Use ripe bananas with brown spots for best flavor. Heat milk slowly on medium-low to avoid scorching. If latte is too thick, add a splash more milk. Froth with immersion blender, whisk, or shaking in a jar. Adjust sweetness after combining with coffee. Toast cinnamon lightly for deeper flavor but watch to avoid burning.
