A quick and easy party snack combining salty pretzel rods dipped in smooth chocolate and sprinkled with crushed freeze-dried strawberries for a crispy, sweet, and tangy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1/2 cup crushed freeze-dried strawberries
  • 6 ounces (170 grams) white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)
  • Sprinkles or crushed nuts (optional)
  • Non-stick spray or parchment paper (to line work surface)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Have crushed freeze-dried strawberries and any other toppings ready in small bowls. (5 minutes)
  2. Melt the chocolate by placing 12 ounces (340 g) of chocolate chips or melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler over simmering water. (5-7 minutes)
  3. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip back into the bowl. Lay the rod on the prepared sheet. Repeat for all rods. (10-15 minutes)
  4. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle crushed freeze-dried strawberries evenly over the dipped portion. Add sprinkles or crushed nuts if desired and press lightly to stick. (5 minutes)
  5. Optional: Melt 6 ounces (170 g) of white chocolate and drizzle thin lines over the rods using a spoon or fork. (5 minutes)
  6. Let the pretzel rods set at room temperature for about 30 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens. Avoid stacking or moving until firm. (15-30 minutes)
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Use high-quality couverture chocolate for best melt and shine. Temper chocolate if possible to prevent dull finish and keep coating crisp longer. Work quickly as chocolate sets fast. Store in a cool, dry place to maintain crispiness. Freeze individually wrapped for up to 2 months. Avoid dipping in humid or cold environments to prevent chocolate seizing or blooming.
