Ingredients

Scale
  • 8-inch flour tortillas (8 pieces), soft and fresh like Mission or La Tortilla Factory
  • 8 ounces (226 grams) cream cheese, softened (full-fat or light)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) thinly sliced deli ham or leftover Easter ham
  • 1/2 cup (50 grams) shredded cheddar cheese, sharp or mild
  • Optional add-ins: finely diced red bell pepper or pickle, pinch of smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for 5 minutes or microwaving in 10-second bursts until spreadable but not melted.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped chives, parsley, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well-blended. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  3. Place one tortilla flat on a clean surface or cutting board.
  4. Using a spatula or butter knife, spread an even layer of the cream cheese mixture over the entire surface of the tortilla, leaving about a ½-inch border at the edges.
  5. Layer thin slices of ham evenly over the cream cheese, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. If using optional add-ins like diced bell pepper or pickles, scatter them evenly now.
  6. Starting at one edge, carefully roll the tortilla into a tight log, keeping the roll snug but not squished.
  7. Wrap each rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  8. Remove the rolls from the fridge and unwrap. Using a sharp knife, slice into 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick rounds. Arrange on a serving plate.
  9. Serve immediately or keep chilled until ready to serve.

Notes

Soften cream cheese well for easy spreading. Chill roll ups for at least 30 minutes before slicing to keep pinwheels intact. Use a sharp knife for clean slices. Optional add-ins like diced bell pepper or pickles add crunch. For dairy-free or gluten-free versions, substitute ingredients accordingly.
