Instructions

  1. Measure your coffee and water: Use 2 tablespoons (10 grams) of medium ground coffee for every 1 cup (8 fl oz / 240 ml) of cold filtered water. For a single serving, use 4 tablespoons (20 grams) coffee to 2 cups (16 fl oz / 480 ml) water.
  2. Combine coffee and water: In your French press or jar, add the coffee grounds first, then pour in the cold water. Stir gently to make sure all grounds are wet.
  3. Steep briefly: Let the mixture steep at room temperature for about 10 minutes. For stronger coffee, steep an extra 2 minutes but avoid over-extraction.
  4. Strain the coffee: Press down the French press plunger slowly or pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean pitcher or glass.
  5. Fill a glass with ice cubes to chill your coffee immediately.
  6. Pour the brewed coffee over the ice. Stir in milk or milk alternative and sweetener to taste.
  7. Enjoy immediately. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 48 hours without ice.
