A quick and easy summer drink made with just three simple ingredients: fresh watermelon, lime juice, and agave syrup. This refreshing agua fresca is perfect for hot days and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed (about 600 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (30 ml)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey (1530 ml), to taste
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (600 grams) of fresh watermelon into cubes, removing seeds as you go.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes in your blender and pulse until smooth, about 1-2 minutes on high speed.
  3. Optional: Pour the blended watermelon through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of freshly squeezed lime juice and 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) of agave syrup, adjusting sweetness to taste. Add a pinch of sea salt if desired.
  5. Mix everything well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld.
  6. Serve over ice cubes in tall glasses, garnished with a lime wedge or small watermelon slice.

Notes

If the agua fresca tastes too sweet or thick, add a splash of cold water to thin it out. Blend in short bursts to avoid overheating the fruit. Straining is optional depending on your texture preference. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor. Use frozen watermelon cubes for a colder drink. Adjust sweetness gradually.
