These easy make-ahead turkey cheddar avocado pinwheel wraps are quick, healthy snacks combining creamy avocado, sharp cheddar, and tender turkey in soft tortillas. Perfect for busy days, gatherings, or lunchboxes, they are fresh, flavorful, and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • Large flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • Cooked turkey breast slices (about 8 oz / 225 g)
  • Sharp cheddar cheese (6 oz / 170 g), sliced thin or shredded
  • Ripe avocado (1 large or 2 small), mashed
  • Cream cheese (4 oz / 115 g), softened
  • Fresh baby spinach leaves (1 cup / 30 g) – optional
  • Lemon juice (1 tablespoon)
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder (optional, 1/4 teaspoon)
  • Optional add-ons: thinly sliced red bell pepper or cucumber, honey mustard drizzle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocado spread: In a medium bowl, mash 1 large ripe avocado with 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional), salt, and pepper to taste. This should take about 5 minutes.
  2. Spread the cream cheese: Lay a flour tortilla flat on your cutting board. Using a spatula or butter knife, spread a thin, even layer of softened cream cheese over the entire surface. This step takes about 2 minutes per tortilla.
  3. Layer the avocado: Spoon a generous amount of the mashed avocado mixture over the cream cheese layer, leaving about half an inch from the edges. Expect about 3 minutes for this part.
  4. Add turkey and cheddar: Layer thin slices of turkey breast evenly over the avocado, then add a layer of sharp cheddar slices or shredded cheddar. Add baby spinach or other veggies if desired. This step takes about 3-5 minutes per wrap.
  5. Roll tightly: Starting at one edge, roll the tortilla tightly but gently to avoid squishing the filling. Wrap each rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper. This takes about 2 minutes per wrap.
  6. Chill and slice: Refrigerate the wrapped pinwheels for at least 20-30 minutes to firm up. When ready, unwrap and slice each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels using a sharp serrated knife. You should get about 8-10 pinwheels per tortilla. This final step takes around 10 minutes.
  7. Serve or store: Arrange the pinwheels on a platter for serving or pack them into an airtight container for later. They keep well in the fridge for up to 2 days and taste great cold or at room temperature.

Notes

Chill the mashed avocado for 10 minutes before spreading if too slippery. Spread cream cheese first to prevent sogginess and help avocado stick. Chill wrapped pinwheels for at least 20-30 minutes before slicing to keep them firm and neat. Use a sharp serrated knife to slice gently. Do not overfill to avoid messy rolling. Best eaten within 2 days and served cold or at room temperature. Avoid microwaving to prevent soggy tortillas.
