A sweet, spicy, and creamy dip combining candied jalapeños with cream cheese and cheddar, perfect for parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup candied jalapeños, chopped
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup sour cream, full-fat or light
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, a pinch

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out for 30 minutes or microwaving in 10-second bursts until soft but not melted.
  2. Chop ½ cup of candied jalapeños into small pieces, being careful with the sticky juice.
  3. Shred 1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and ½ cup sour cream until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Gently fold in the shredded cheddar and chopped candied jalapeños, preserving texture.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld and dip firm up.
  8. Stir before serving and serve with crackers, tortilla chips, or fresh veggies.

Notes

Chilling the dip for at least 1 hour improves flavor and texture. Use full-fat cream cheese and sour cream for best results. For a smoother dip, pulse in a food processor after mixing. If too stiff after chilling, stir in a tablespoon of milk or more sour cream to loosen.
