frozen watermelon slushie - featured image

A quick and easy summer slushie blending sweet watermelon, fresh lime juice, and spicy Tajín seasoning for a refreshing and vibrant drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups seedless watermelon chunks (about 600 grams)
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml)
  • 1 to 1.5 teaspoons Tajín seasoning
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (optional)
  • 1 to 1.5 cups ice cubes (240360 ml)
  • A small handful of fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups of seedless watermelon into chunks, removing any seeds if necessary.
  2. Place the watermelon chunks in a high-speed blender along with 1 to 1.5 cups of ice cubes.
  3. Juice 2 fresh limes and pour the juice over the watermelon and ice in the blender.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of Tajín seasoning, starting with less if sensitive to spice.
  5. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey or agave syrup if additional sweetness is desired.
  6. Pulse on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture is smooth and slushie-like, stopping to scrape down the sides if needed.
  7. Taste and adjust by adding more Tajín, lime juice, or sweetener as desired, then blend briefly again.
  8. Optionally, add a few fresh mint leaves and pulse once or twice to incorporate.
  9. Serve immediately in chilled glasses, garnished with a lime wedge or extra Tajín sprinkle.

Notes

Use ripe, sweet watermelon for best flavor. Adjust Tajín seasoning to taste to control spice level. If blender struggles with ice, use smaller cubes or let ice soften slightly. Serve immediately for best texture as the slushie melts quickly. Frozen watermelon can be used with less ice. Optional mint adds a refreshing herbal note.
