A spooky, fizzy, creamy Halloween punch with dry ice fog that looks like a witch’s brew but tastes like a childhood memory. Quick to make with simple ingredients, it’s the perfect centerpiece for any Halloween party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 gallon (3.8 liters) orange or lime sherbet
  • 2 liters (67.6 fl oz) ginger ale
  • 1 liter (33.8 fl oz) lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP)
  • 1 liter (33.8 fl oz) pineapple juice
  • 1 block (2-3 pounds / 0.9-1.4 kg) dry ice
  • Gummy worms, gummy eyeballs, or plastic spider rings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill the sodas and juice: At least 2 hours before serving, put the ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, and pineapple juice in the fridge.
  2. Set up the punch bowl: Place your punch bowl in the center of the serving table on a sturdy surface.
  3. Scoop the sherbet: Open the sherbet container and scoop out about half of it into the punch bowl. Leave the rest for refilling later.
  4. Pour in the liquids: Slowly pour in the ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, and pineapple juice. Stir once or twice to combine.
  5. Add the dry ice: Put on thick gloves. Wrap the dry ice block in a towel and break it into egg-sized chunks with a hammer. Drop a few pieces into the punch bowl. Do not touch dry ice with bare hands.
  6. Watch the fog: Let it sit for 30 seconds before serving so the fog builds up.
  7. Garnish and serve: Drop in gummy worms or eyeballs. Ladle the punch into cups, avoiding scooping up dry ice pieces.

Notes

Don’t add dry ice too early; it lasts 15-20 minutes. Never seal dry ice in an airtight container. Use a ladle to serve, not cups. Stir punch every 15 minutes. For best fog effect, serve indoors. If punch is too sweet, add a splash of lemon juice. If sherbet melts too fast, chill ingredients overnight.
