A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip topped with a sour cream spider web design, perfect for Halloween parties. Quick to make with simple ingredients, this crowd-pleaser is both delicious and festive.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for dip base)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for spider web topping)
  • 12 plastic spiders (optional)
  • Tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or baguette slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes or microwaving for 15-20 seconds.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, shredded cheddar, 1/4 cup sour cream, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon the mixture into an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish and spread evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until hot and bubbly around the edges.
  6. While the dip bakes, prepare the spider web topping: spoon the remaining 1/4 cup sour cream into a small zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner (about 1/8 inch).
  7. Once the dip is out of the oven and slightly cooled (about 5 minutes), pipe concentric circles of sour cream on top, starting from the center. Then use a toothpick or knife to drag lines from the center outward to create a web pattern.
  8. Place one or two plastic spiders on the web for decoration.
  9. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or baguette slices.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce buffalo sauce to 1/4 cup and increase ranch dressing to 3/4 cup. For extra spice, add cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños. To make ahead, assemble dip base (without spider web) and refrigerate up to 1 day; add 5-10 minutes to baking time. Pipe spider web just before serving. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
