These spooky white chocolate popcorn hands are a fun, easy Halloween treat that looks like something out of a haunted house but tastes like a cozy movie night. Made with just five simple ingredients, they come together in about 25 minutes and are perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag white chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Sprinkles, edible glitter, or candy eyes for decorating

Instructions

  1. Prep your workstation. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Pop your popcorn and remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Melt the butter and marshmallows. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the 3 tablespoons of butter. Once fully melted, add the entire bag of mini marshmallows. Stir constantly until completely smooth and melted, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla and white chocolate. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Then add the white chocolate melting wafers and stir until fully incorporated and smooth. If needed, return to low heat for 30 seconds at a time, stirring constantly.
  4. Combine with popcorn. Pour the marshmallow-white chocolate mixture over the popcorn in a large bowl. Gently fold until every piece of popcorn is coated. Work quickly as the mixture starts setting up as it cools.
  5. Let it cool slightly. Let the mixture sit in the bowl for 3-4 minutes until warm but not hot, with the consistency of thick Play-Doh.
  6. Put on the gloves. Put one disposable glove on your dominant hand. Have a second glove ready for your other hand if making multiple batches.
  7. Mold the popcorn hands. Scoop up a generous handful of the popcorn mixture (about the size of a tennis ball). Press it into the gloved hand, shaping it to cover your palm, fingers, and thumb. Press firmly but not so hard that the glove tears.
  8. Set the shape. Carefully place the gloved hand with the popcorn mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, popcorn side down. Gently press to flatten the back slightly. Carefully peel the glove off starting from the wrist.
  9. Add decorations. While the hands are still slightly warm, press sprinkles or candy eyes into the fingertips to look like creepy nails. Work fast before the mixture sets completely.
  10. Chill to set. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to firm up the white chocolate and marshmallow mixture.

Notes

Let the marshmallow mixture cool for 3-4 minutes before molding to prevent it from being too runny. Don’t overwork the popcorn to keep it light and crunchy. If white chocolate seizes, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening and stir over low heat. For best results, use plain or lightly salted popcorn and avoid heavily buttered varieties.
